I have to point out first of all that I’m not generally a “headphones” sort of person, I generally listen to music at home via a music system streamed off my PC or in the car courtesy of a Sony car stereo. These headphones interested me for another reason though and that is video gaming. I love playing video games of various sorts and over the years as the quality of handheld gaming devices has improved have moved to these as it means I’m not hogging the television whilst the rest of the household is watching some sitcom or soap or whatever on the television. The downside is if I want sound I have to be in another room as it’s hard to listen to a PS Vita and a television blaring out two differing lots of sound at once, so the PS Vita is Bluetooth, these headphones are Bluetooth …. So I can play my game in the comfort of my living room and hear the sound whilst everybody else is watching whatever rubbish it is they watch on the television (can you tell I’m not a big fan of TV?)
“Connecting” the headphones to the PS Vita was an absolute doddle, it connected within a few seconds just by turning the Vita’s Bluetooth on and turning the earphones, simplicity even for me. I also tried connecting to my HTC smart phone, again no problems at all. I also have a Bluetooth adapter plugged into my desktop PC in my office and have been known to “crank out” an eclectic range of music from Scooter, DJ Isaac, Sixties stuff, and all sorts right through to André Rieu and, in the process, irritate the hell out of my wife. Whilst she likes André Rieu (who doesn’t?) she can’t abide Scooter and don’t start her on DJ Isaac. So yes I can also blast out some music while working without upsetting the rest of the household (I work from home and the PC speakers are, shall we say, “loud”).
So I guess I could also use them in the gym (if I went to one), running (err yeah right, maybe ….) and so on which admittedly I don’t do enough of but given that there’s no stupid cables getting in the way, dangling round your armpits and basically annoying you I see no reason why they shouldn’t be good.
I also like the fact that you get different size “rubber thingys” so you can match it all together to what fits your lugholes best. My only complaint? Well, it’s not really a complaint but I noticed that 10 metres range was a bit optimistic but to be fair my house is one of those “blocks everything including the WiFi” type of houses, it’s a problem I’ve had with WiFi routers and those TV to TV streaming thingys in the past so I tried it outdoors and yes 10 metres is about right.
All in all I’m well chuffed with them, good device all round. Works with PS Vita, my HTC Smartphone (Desire 610) and my desktop PC with a cheap Chinese Bluetooth adapter plugged into it. All good, I can’t fault them although I would have preferred the black ones (oh well!)
I give them 9 out 10
