Ahhh yes the charming Puppini Sisters. If you’ve not heard of them before they are a sort of “retro” trio singing songs which are lifted from a different era. Now, there’s nothing wrong with that in my opinion. Many of the songs on this particular album (their second album I believe) some of which have a sort of 1940s “pop swing” feel to them, with the exception of “Walk Like An Egyptian” which of course is the 1985 classic from The Bangles.
The tracks on this CD are:
- Walk Like An Egyptian
- Old Cape Cod
- Soho Nights
- I Can’t Believe I’m Not A Millionaire
- It Don’t Mean A Thing (If It Ain’t Got That Swing)
- Could It Be Magic
- Don’t Sit Under The Apple Tree
- Crazy In Love
- It’s Not Over (Death or the toy piano)
- And She Sang
- We Have All The Time In The World
Great music and great singing from the lovely Marcella, Stephanie and Kate. Lovely music and I love the “retro” vibe to it. Apparently Marcella got the inspiration for the band from watching the film Belleville Rendezvous (aka The Triplets of Belleville), which I’ve not seen myself but hey I’ve sold a lot of DVDs of it over the years! It’s hard not to like these ladies.
