“Once in a lifetime there comes a motion picture that changes the whole history of motion pictures. A picture so stunning in its effect, so vast in its impact that it profoundly affects the lives of those who see it”. Uh huh, and this isn’t one of those motion pictures :p
Ahh yes a comedy movie replete with standard Monty Python silliness and buffoonery. Undoubtedly you know the story: King Arthur and his “Knights Of The Round Table” head off in search of the Holy Grail (they’re looking in the wrong place, we all know Indiana Jones found it in a ruin in the desert guarded by a 2000 year old knight surrounded by Nazis but still). En route the “party” are subjected to a number of suitably silly obstacles and general Pythonesque slapstick ensues.
So well-known is this film to many of us that many of the scenes are known “word for word”. Old farts like myself know all the words of the “Knights Of The Round Table” and we’ve all seen the Lego remake on Youtube surely?
But to the film, it’s standard stupidity from Monty Python and unless you particularly dislike that sort of humour there’s absolutely no reason why you shouldn’t watch it. It’s a 15 so maybe not when the little ones are around though. Any criticisms? Yeah, it’s not as funny as “Life Of Brian” 😉 In the immortal words of the film itself:
“Buy this film or go and boil your bottoms, you sons of a silly person”.
